Istiqlol in Sughd Region is accessed by road from Khujand (regional airport and rail hub) or by overland links from Dushanbe. Domestic flights, marshrutkas and taxis form the core of regional travel.

By Air

Khujand (Khudzhand) - Khujand Airport (LBD): The closest commercial airport for northern Tajikistan is Khujand (also spelled Leninabad); flights connect domestically and to some regional destinations. From Khujand airport to Istiqlol (depending on which Istiqlol is referenced in Sughd) expect a short-to-moderate road transfer by taxi or marshrutka.

Dushanbe International Airport (DYU): Dushanbe is the main international gateway; if you arrive here you will need to travel overland (train/bus/taxi) to Sughd Region-this is a long journey, so many visitors use domestic flights to Khujand when available.

By Train & Bus

Train: Tajik Railways operates services connecting Dushanbe with Khujand and other regional hubs, but services can be limited and slower than road options. For travel within Sughd Region, trains can be useful for longer hauls but you will probably need a taxi or marshrutka for the last mile to Istiqlol.
