How to Get to Igalo#
Igalo is best reached by road from nearby airports (Tivat, Dubrovnik or Podgorica) - there is no direct rail link. In practice visitors use Tivat or Dubrovnik with a final bus, shuttle or taxi to Igalo.
Tivat Airport (TIV): The closest airport for Igalo/Herceg Novi (around 20-40 minutes by road depending on border crossing and route). From TIV you can take a taxi to Igalo (around 25-40 minutes, typically €25-40) or rent a car.
Dubrovnik Airport (DBV): Located in Croatia but commonly used for Herceg Novi/Igalo, particularly in summer. Dubrovnik → Igalo involves a bus or shuttle to Herceg Novi and a border crossing (transfer time ~1-1.5 hours depending on queues); expect shuttle fares roughly €10-25 and taxis higher. Podgorica (TGD) is another option (longer drive, ~1.5-2 hours).
Train: Montenegro’s rail network does not serve Herceg Novi/Igalo directly; there is no convenient rail option for the last leg.
Bus: Intercity buses run to Herceg Novi from Tivat, Kotor and Podgorica; local buses or short taxi rides cover the last few kilometres into Igalo. Summer shuttle services operate from Dubrovnik airport to Herceg Novi/Igalo - check seasonal schedules in advance.

- Airport shuttle / seasonal coach (DBV → Herceg Novi) (€10-25 (seasonal)) - From Dubrovnik airport seasonally operated shuttles and private buses serve Herceg Novi/Igalo. These are cheapest in summer but are seasonal - buy tickets in advance during peak months.
- Taxi (from Tivat/Podgorica/Dubrovnik) (€25-60) - Taxis offer the fastest door‑to‑door transfer and are commonly used for airport transfers. Expect higher fares for cross‑border rides (DBV → Igalo) and variable wait times at arrival halls.
- Local bus / coach (~€1-5) - Local buses connect Herceg Novi with Tivat, Kotor and other Montenegrin towns; the bus drop‑off is usually at the central Herceg Novi station with short local taxi or bus rides to Igalo. Schedules are regular but less frequent outside summer.
- Car hire (€35-80/day) - Renting a car gives full flexibility to explore the Bay of Kotor and coastal Montenegro. Roads are scenic but narrow in parts; parking in peak season can be limited in coastal towns.
- Walking - Igalo’s promenade and spa area are compact and ideal for walking. Use feet for short coastal strolls or to access beaches and local restaurants.
