How to Get to Hullo
Hullo (Hiiumaa) is primarily accessed from mainland Estonia by ferry (Rohuküla-Heltermaa) or by limited flights into Kärdla Airport. For most travellers the Tallinn → Rohuküla drive/bus plus ferry is the standard and reliable route.
Kärdla Airport (KDL): Kärdla is the local airport on Hiiumaa island with limited scheduled flights to/from Tallinn; flight time is short and schedules are seasonal - taxis to Hullo take about 10-20 minutes and cost roughly €8-€20. Check current operators and timetables before booking.
Tallinn Airport (TLL): For most international travellers Tallinn Airport is the main arrival point. From Tallinn you can drive or take a bus to the ferry terminal at Rohuküla (about 1.5-2.5 hours by car/bus depending on route) and then the ferry to Heltermaa on Hiiumaa.
Train: There is no direct rail link to Hiiumaa; Estonia’s rail operator Elron serves mainland routes but not the island. Use bus or car to reach ferry terminals instead.
Bus & Ferry: The usual public-transport route is Tallinn → Rohuküla by long-distance bus or car, then the TS Laevad ferry from Rohuküla to Heltermaa (crossing ~1 hour). From Heltermaa local buses or taxis connect to Hullo; combined ferry + bus/taxi journey times to Hullo are typically 2-3 hours from Tallinn. Foot-passenger ferry fares are modest (generally a few euros) and vehicle fares are higher; check TS Laevad for current prices and schedules.
