Hobulaid is a small island in western Estonia’s Lääne County, situated in the Väinameri archipelago of the Baltic Sea. It is a low-lying, largely natural island with coastal habitats and limited human infrastructure.

The island has traditionally been used seasonally for grazing and is noted for its coastal flora and seabird colonies rather than for built heritage. It is considered a minor landscape feature within the broader archipelago.

How to Get to Hobulaid

Hobulaid is reached by private boat from mainland harbours in Lääne County (for example from the area around Haapsalu). There are no regular ferry services; visitors should arrange access with local boating operators and be prepared for open-water conditions.

  • If landing by small boat, approach from the lee side - Hobulaid is exposed to northerly winds.
