Conakry & Maritime Coast

November is the start of the dry season: humidity falls, skies clear, and Conakry feels livelier with more predictable weather and calmer seas for island trips. Daytime temperatures are warm but far less oppressive; evenings are pleasant for dining outdoors on the Pointe. It’s a good month for travel logistics and onward flights, as roads that were impassable during the rains begin to firm up.

Fouta Djallon Highlands (Labé, Dalaba, Mamou)

November is typically dry and mild, an excellent window for hiking, birding and visiting Labé’s markets before the harmattan begins to descend. The region’s rivers are still flowing from the rainy season but access to remote valleys is much easier. Pack warm clothes for nights and a light rain layer for occasional squalls as the climate transitions toward the drier months.

Guinée Forestière (Southeast - Nzérékoré, Monts Nimba)

November is a drier month with lower humidity and easier overland travel; secondary roads firm up and access to remote villages improves significantly. Monts Nimba and nearby reserves are more accessible for multi-day hikes and conservation visits. Nights are comfortable and mosquitoes are fewer, making this one of the better months for extended fieldwork or guided eco-tours.

Upper Guinea & Inland Savannah (Kankan, Siguiri, Kouroussa)

November is hot in the daytime but markedly drier and dustier with clear skies - the best time for extended road trips and river excursions without the risk of muddy delays. Harmattan dust sometimes begins to appear late in the month, reducing visibility on long drives; pack a face scarf for dusty stretches. Accommodation options are more reliable now that the wet season is over.
