St. George’s & West Coast (Grand Anse, Point Salines)

January on the west coast feels like classic Caribbean winter: steady northeast trade breezes, low humidity and lots of sunshine. Grand Anse beach is busy with international visitors and ferries sail reliably to the smaller islands; evenings are pleasantly cool compared with the humid summer so a light sweater is useful. Diving and the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park have excellent visibility now, and shops and restaurants around St. George’s are fully open after the holidays.

Northern & Atlantic Coast (Levera, Sauteurs, Levera National Park)

January brings brisker trade winds on the Atlantic-facing beaches like Levera, making mornings cool and the surf lively enough for watching rather than swimming. Birdlife at Levera National Park is active and the beach is quieter than Grand Anse, perfect for photographers who don’t mind stronger winds. Pack windproof layers for afternoons and be aware that sea conditions can make small-boat crossings uncomfortable.

Central Highlands & Grand Etang (Grand Etang Forest Reserve, Mount St. Catherine)

January in the highlands is noticeably cooler and mistier than the coasts; dawn temperatures can dip into the high teens Celsius around Grand Etang. Trails are generally dry and firm-ideal for crater-lake walks-so you’ll find fewer insects and crisp air that makes hiking pleasant. Bring a warm layer for early starts and expect cloud banks that occasionally obscure distant views.

Carriacou & Petite Martinique (Sandy Bay, Hillsborough)

January in Carriacou is comfortably warm and drier than Grenada’s main island, with steady trades that keep evenings pleasant. Hillsborough’s waterfront cafes are open and ferry crossings are usually reliable; it’s an excellent month for exploring the reef flats and calm bays around Sandy Island. Pack light layers for breezy nights and reserve boat charters early if you want private island excursions.
