Why Visit Giardini Naxos?#
On Sicily’s Ionian coast, Giardini Naxos mixes sandy beaches with ancient roots as the site of Greece’s first Sicilian colony. The Naxos archaeological area and the Bay of Naxos give the town a classical backdrop, and nearby Taormina provides theater views and lively nightlife within minutes. Seafood restaurants serve fresh catch and Sicilian specialties like granita, so visitors can combine sun, history and regional flavors in one seaside base.

How to Get to Giardini Naxos#
Giardini Naxos is most easily reached via Catania (CTA) and the regional rail/bus link to Taormina-Giardini station. From there a short local bus or taxi brings you down to the seafront and resorts.
Catania-Fontanarossa Airport (CTA): Catania is the main international gateway for eastern Sicily. From Catania airport you can take a short shuttle to Catania Centrale station (~15-25 minutes) and then a regional train to Taormina-Giardini (ride ~45-60 minutes) or use a direct bus/taxi to Giardini Naxos. Taxis from Catania to Giardini Naxos typically take ~45-60 minutes.
Reggio Calabria Airport (REG): If arriving via the mainland, Reggio Calabria is an option; from there take the ferry or train across the Strait and then continue by local train or bus along the Ionian coast to Giardini Naxos (longer journey than from Catania).
Train: The Taormina-Giardini station (officially Taormina-Giardini) is on the Messina-Catania rail line. Regional trains stop there; from the station you can walk or take a short bus/taxi down to sea-level Giardini Naxos (about 10-20 minutes).
Bus: Local buses connect Taormina, Giardini Naxos and Catania (operators include AST and Interbus). Buses are frequent in summer; they are inexpensive and drop you close to the beach and main tourist areas. Taxis are quicker but cost more.
