Western Viti Levu, Mamanucas & Yasawas (Nadi/Denarau/Resort Islands)

February continues to bring heavy, warm rains with an elevated cyclone risk; mornings can be calm and steaming, then a sudden, hard shower will sweep through. Visibility for diving can drop after persistent rains but when conditions settle the reefs recover quickly; local operators in Nadi will often rebook trips rather than cancel. Travelers should keep flexible itineraries and follow weather advisories-ferry crossings to the outer islands are the most likely to change.

Coral Coast & Suva (Sigatoka to Suva)

By February the wet season stays in force with high humidity and persistent cloud bands that can produce prolonged rain over the southeast side of Viti Levu. Suva’s urban streets can pool after heavy falls, and cultural events move indoors; the city is still busy with locals and business travel. Pack quick-drying clothes, waterproofs and mosquito repellent-rainy evenings make open-air dining less reliable.

Vanua Levu & Northern Islands (Savusavu, Labasa, Naqelelevu)

February remains in the peak wet window: continuous tropical moisture makes the landscape intensely green and rivers run high across the north coast. Diving around the northern reefs is possible but visibility can suffer after prolonged rain; small guesthouses may close temporarily when supplies are delayed by poor weather. Local life carries on but expect fewer organised tourist activities.

Taveuni & Lau Islands (Eastern Isles and the ‘Garden Island’)

February is one of the wettest months here-Taveuni’s reputation for high rainfall is at its clearest as mist wraps the interior and streams surge. The famous Bouma Falls are spectacular and very full but trails are muddy and best tackled with sturdy boots or a local guide. For adventurous travelers this is dramatic and green, but for relaxed beach time consider postponing until the drier window.

Highlands & Interior Viti Levu (Mount Tomanivi, Colo-i-Suva, central plateau)

Persistent low cloud and showers typify February, with the interior receiving steady orographic rain as moist air lifts over the central ranges. Summit winds make exposed walks feel cooler and visibility on higher ridges may be poor. For travelers interested in birding or jungle photography the intense greenness is rewarding, but plan for muddy trails and short daylight windows.
