Bioko Island (Malabo, Luba, Pico Basilé)
October typically remains very wet but there are often brief interludes of calmer weather that allow excursions to coastal beaches around Luba. Expect high humidity and sticky city afternoons in Malabo; a sun hat won’t help much against the squalls that often come from the southwest. Ferry crossings to small offshore islands continue to be weather-dependent, so keep flexible bookings.
Mainland Coast & Bata (Bata, Mbini, Kogo)
October sees the rains remaining strong but with occasional windows of calmer weather; afternoons can still be unpredictable. Fishing communities are active and local markets brim with freshly harvested produce, though road travel remains slow in places. If you need to move along the coast, leave early in the day-many services attempt to run before afternoon squalls build.
Interior Rainforest & Highlands (Monte Alén, Nsok, Ebebiyin area)
November begins a slow dry-down with rainfall frequency decreasing near month’s end; rivers start to settle and roads become incrementally more passable. Wildlife activity remains high and trails become progressively less hazardous, making late November an attractive window for entering Monte Alén before the drier season fully sets in. Pack a mix of wet- and dry-weather clothing for variable days.
Annobón Island
October remains very wet and blustery; the small community rhythm adapts to frequent showers, but for visitors the big constraint is transport reliability. If the goal is to stay put and camp or snorkel close to shore during a calm window, October can still work, otherwise be prepared for cancellations and rescheduling. Bring waterproof bags and accept that itineraries will flex with the weather.
Corisco & Small Coastal Islands (Corisco, Elobey Grande/Chico)
October remains in the wet phase with frequently squally weather that keeps tourist numbers low and islands quiet. For photographers and naturalists this is a good trade-off - solitude and active wildlife - but expect logistical friction: intermittent electricity, limited food resupply and canceled boat pickups. Pack extra snacks and water purification options if staying overnight.
