Danau Gunung Tujuh

Danau Gunung Tujuh is a volcanic crater lake located inside Kerinci Seblat National Park in Jambi province on Sumatra, Indonesia. It is a high-elevation crater lake noted for its natural setting within one of Indonesia’s largest national parks.

A rugged trek to the lake and its rim is the main attraction, offering panoramic views of the crater basin and surrounding montane forest. The lake is a destination for day-hikes and multi-day trekking within the park rather than an easily reached roadside attraction.

The lake occupies a volcanic crater that formed through past volcanic activity; local communities have long used the surrounding highland for grazing and subsistence agriculture. Over time the site has become part of Kerinci Seblat National Park management and is visited for both recreation and conservation awareness.

The lake sits in central Sumatra within Kerinci Regency, surrounded by steep forested slopes and montane terrain. The nearest significant town is Sungai Penuh, and access is typically via park tracks and trails from roadheads inside Kerinci Seblat National Park.

• Plan for a steep, multi-hour ascent to the caldera rim and lake; many hikers camp near the rim to catch sunrise and avoid afternoon storms, so allow time for an overnight if you want morning light at the lake.
• Visit in the dry season (roughly Mayâ€"October) for firmer trails and clearer views; during the wet months trails can be boggy and visibility often poor.
