Čobanija Mosque is an Ottoman-period mosque in Sarajevo. It is located within the city’s historic core and is part of the Ottoman architectural heritage of the Sarajevo basin.

The mosque functions as a local congregational mosque and is representative of Ottoman mosque architecture in the city. Visitors will observe a single prayer hall and associated minaret typical of neighbourhood mosques.

Built during Ottoman rule, the mosque has served the local Muslim community since its construction and has been part of Sarajevo’s religious landscape through successive historical periods.

It stands in the old town area of Sarajevo in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

• Ottoman-era mosque: Located in Sarajevo’s historic Ottoman-era neighbourhood, it dates from the Ottoman period and continues to serve as a local place of worship.

The Čobanija Mosque sits in Sarajevo’s Baščaršija (Old Town) beside the Miljacka River. Take the city tram to the Baščaršija stop (central Sarajevo); from that tram stop it is a short 2-5 minute walk to the mosque through the pedestrian bazaar area. Local buses also serve stops nearby in the Old Town.

• Visit Čobanija Mosque outside of core prayer times (avoid Friday midday) to be able to enter and look around without interrupting worship; it is an active mosque in Sarajevo's old town so schedules and access can change.
• Enter from the Baščaršija/old bazaar side and allow time to explore the small courtyard and surrounding streets - the mosque sits within the historic Ottoman quarter, where many visitors concentrate on the main bazaar and miss adjacent monuments.
• Be respectful of religious practice: remove your shoes before entering, cover shoulders and legs (and women should have a headscarf available), and avoid photographing people during prayer.
