How to Get to Choi Wan
Choi Wan and Tsz Wan Shan are residential areas in Wong Tai Sin District, Hong Kong, best reached via Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and the city's MTR and bus network. Choi Wan sits beside Choi Hung MTR station; Tsz Wan Shan relies on nearby MTR stations plus a dense network of buses and minibuses.
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG): The main gateway for Choi Wan and Tsz Wan Shan. The Airport Express runs to Kowloon Station in about 24 minutes (single Adult fare to Kowloon Station around HK$115); from Kowloon transfer to the MTR (Kwun Tong Line) or take a taxi. Cityflyer buses (e.g. A21) provide a cheaper alternative to central Kowloon (about 45-60 minutes, fares around HK$33).
Shenzhen Bao’an International (SZX): Some travelers use Shenzhen and cross the border by land (several crossing points). If coming via SZX, add 30-60+ minutes for the immigration crossing and then take Shenzhen metro/coach to a border point and Hong Kong public transport into Kowloon. This route is best if you have time and a valid visa/entry permit for Hong Kong.
Train (MTR): Choi Wan is best reached from Choi Hung MTR station (Kwun Tong Line) - Choi Hung station is adjacent to the Choi Wan estate and short walking distance. Tsz Wan Shan does not have its own MTR stop; the nearest rail access points are Wong Tai Sin and Diamond Hill stations (Kwun Tong/Tuen Ma lines). A single MTR trip inside Kowloon is typically HK$4-12 depending on distance and Octopus card use.
Bus / Minibus: Both neighborhoods are well served by KMB buses, Citybus routes and green minibuses. Buses and minibuses connect the estates to Kowloon and the New Territories; fares are commonly HK$4-12 on franchised buses and slightly higher on some minibus routes. Buses are frequent and often the quickest option for short cross-district journeys.
How to Get Around Choi Wan #
Choi Wan is a residential neighbourhood on steep hills; short trips around the estate are walkable but expect many stairs. The wider Wong Tai Sin area is well served by Hong Kong’s public transport: the MTR (Wong Tai Sin station nearby), frequent buses, minibuses and taxis provide easy links across Kowloon and into the rest of the city. Typical fares: short MTR rides often cost HK$4-12; local buses and minibuses are cheaper. Wear comfortable shoes for the slopes and check bus/minibus numbers for hill routes.
