How to Get to Changuinola
Changuinola in Bocas del Toro province is reached by a mix of domestic flights to David or Bocas Town and overland bus/van transfers; Almirante/Changuinola is the mainland hub for accessing the islands. Schedules vary seasonally, so confirm domestic flight and bus connections when planning travel.
Enrique Malek International Airport (DAV) / Panama City Tocumen (PTY): For international arrivals fly to Panama City (PTY) and connect domestically via David (DAV) or Bocas del Toro (Isla Colón, BOC) depending on schedules. If you can find a flight into David (DAV) or Bocas Town (BOC), onward road travel to Changuinola is shorter. From David to Changuinola the road journey is about 2.5-3.5 hours; from Bocas/Almirante area it is considerably shorter. Domestic flight prices and schedules vary by carrier.
Bocas del Toro (Isla Colón) Airport (BOC): Bocas Town (Isla Colón) is often used when visiting the archipelago; to reach Changuinola you normally travel via Almirante (road/boat links) or by land from David; local transfers vary in time depending on connections.
