How to Get to Bocas del Toro
Bocas del Toro (Isla Colón) is reached either by short domestic flight into BOC or by a long overland bus to Almirante followed by a water taxi. Flights are faster and more convenient; the bus+boat route is cheaper and popular with budget travelers.
Bocas del Toro ‘Isla Colón’ (BOC): Bocas Town (Isla Colón) has a small regional airport (BOC) with frequent domestic flights from Panama City (Albrook) and some connections from David. Flight time from Panama City is about 45-60 minutes; taxis from the airstrip to Bocas Town are short (5-10 minutes).
Tocumen (PTY) / Albrook (PAC): International travelers usually fly into Tocumen (PTY) and transfer to a domestic flight from Albrook (PAC) to Bocas (BOC), or travel by land+boat via Almirante (see buses/boats).
