Brunei-Muara & Bandar Seri Begawan (North coast and capital)

May usually feels a touch drier than the early-year monsoon months, with heat and a steady sea breeze from Muara moderating the worst humidity. Short, sharp thunderstorms still appear, but many days are travel-friendly for kayaking around Kampong Ayer or visiting Jerudong Park. Carry insect repellent for evening river cruises; mosquitoes are persistent when humidity falls after rain.

Belait District (Kuala Belait, Seria and the west coast)

May generally brings fewer prolonged storms and a drier feel along the west coast, making beachside exploration around Seria more comfortable.
