Northern Plains (Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dinajpur)
October brings sharp relief: warm days and clear skies return, making it one of the best months to explore the northern archaeology and rural bazaars. Temperatures are comfortable, typically in the low-to-mid 20s°C, and dust has largely washed away, so cycling is enjoyable. Watch for leftover damage from the monsoon on minor roads; major highways and rail links are usually repaired and reliable by now.
Central & Greater Dhaka Floodplain (Dhaka, Mymensingh, Gazipur)
October opens with noticeably drier air and comfortable temperatures - daytime highs in the mid-20s°C and cool evenings. This clarity makes it an excellent month for exploring Dhaka’s street life and nearby historical sites without the mud or constant rain. Keep an eye on cyclone warnings late in the month as early post-monsoon systems occasionally threaten the coast and cause disruptions to transport.
Eastern Hills & Sylhet Region (Sylhet, Srimangal, Bandarban, Chittagong Hill Tracts)
October brings crisp, drier air and clear views across the hills - arguably one of the best months for visiting Bandarban and Sylhet for trekking and tea‑garden walks. Temperatures are comfortable, typically in the low-to-mid 20s°C, and mosquitoes diminish as humidity decreases. Book ahead for popular hill resorts as domestic visitors pick this month for long weekends and festivals.
Southern Coast & Sundarbans (Khulna, Sundarbans, Kuakata, Patuakhali)
October’s arrival of drier air and clearer skies makes it an excellent month for Sundarbans trips and Kuakata beach time - temperatures are warm but not oppressive and afternoons can be breezy. Be aware the season for cyclones in the Bay of Bengal also peaks in Oct-Nov, so keep an eye on weather bulletins before long sea journeys. Festivals and tourist services ramp up toward late October.
Cox’s Bazar & St. Martin’s Island (Southeast coast, Teknaf, Himchari)
October is an excellent month for beach visits as clear skies, lower humidity, and calmer seas return - it is one of the safest times to take a full-day boat to St. Martin’s. Temperatures are warm but manageable, and Himchari waterfalls are still flowing from residual rains. The region remains attentive to cyclone advisories through October and early November, so monitor forecasts before sailing.
