How to Get to Arachova

Arachova (near Delphi) is most easily reached by road from Athens or by KTEL intercity bus from Kifissos bus terminal. There is no rail service, so buses, private car or tour shuttles are the practical choices for most visitors.

By Air

Athens Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH): The main international airport for central Greece. From Athens to Arachova by road the drive is roughly 2 to 2.5 hours (about 160-180 km) depending on traffic; car rental or private transfer are common. Some tour operators and seasonal shuttle services run directly to Arachova/Delphi.

Nea Anchialos / Skiathos / Aktion (regional): Smaller regional airports exist but require longer road transfers to reach Arachova and Delphi; travel times vary and typically exceed two hours with additional connections.

By Train & Bus

Train: Arachova has no direct train service. The Greek rail network does not serve the town; the rail option is not practical for direct access.

Bus: KTEL buses run from Athens (Kifissos terminal) to Arachova and Delphi; the journey takes about 2.5-3 hours depending on traffic and the exact drop-off point. Buses are frequent enough for day trips and are the standard public-transport option.

How to Get Around Arachova #

Arachova is a compact mountain town best explored on foot. Buses connect it with Delphi and Athens; during winter the town gets busy and parking can be tight, so public buses or taxis may be preferable for day trips. The town’s narrow streets are not ideal for long drives-consider leaving larger vehicles at designated parking and walking through the centre. Dress for colder conditions in winter and bring sturdy footwear for sloped streets.
