Antigua - St. John’s, English Harbour & Southwest Coast

Bright, clear days continue; the island’s botanical colors deepen and Antigua Sailing Week crowds start to arrive in some years. St. John’s markets are at their sunniest and English Harbour’s terraces are comfortable for long lunches; sunscreen and a hat are essentials. Nights are mild which makes walking between pubs and waterfront bars pleasant without the heavy dampness of wet months.

Antigua - East Coast & North Shore (Half Moon Bay, Devil’s Bridge, Long Bay)

Days are warm and the Atlantic regularly brings short, powerful squalls - not continuous rain, but enough to dampen beach picnics on occasion. The east coast is where you’ll feel the full force of the trade winds, so windsurfers and kiteboarders are often out when conditions align. Devil’s Bridge is dramatic under a bright sky; avoid cliff edges when it’s windy.

Barbuda - Codrington, Frigatebird Sanctuary & Pink Sand Beaches

Heat builds quickly during the day on the flat island and wind is the main relief rather than shade; midday walks along the beach are typically replaced by early-morning or late-afternoon outings. Codrington village hums with local life, and the island’s sparse infrastructure means bring cash and supplies. Birdwatching is excellent now as many species are at their most vocal before afternoon heat.

Marine & Sailing Conditions (Inter-island passages, reefs and hurricane season)

February sees the trades steady and the sea cool enough to be refreshing without being chilly; swell from the north may boost surf on the Atlantic-exposed side. Inter-island ferry schedules are largely dependable, and diving operators run frequent trips to reefs such as Cades and Long Bay. Pack reef-safe sunscreen and a windproof layer for open-boat crossings.
