High / low are average daily temperatures (°C). “Feels” reflects how hot or cold it feels, allowing for humidity.
Antigua - St. John’s, English Harbour & Southwest Coast
Warmth starts to build gradually along the coast and the trade winds keep the humidity from feeling oppressive; this is when beaches are still pleasantly comfortable before the summer swell. Snorkeling around Cades Reef is good early in the day, though afternoon breezes can kick up small chop. Expect more locals than tourists during weekdays, but weekends fill up, so plan boat trips in advance.
Antigua - East Coast & North Shore (Half Moon Bay, Devil’s Bridge, Long Bay)
Humidity rises but the east coast’s exposure keeps air moving so the heat feels more breathable than on the leeward shores. Swells can be larger from this time of year, offering surfable waves at certain points but making snorkel trips off the exposed shore choppier. Locals know the safe sheltered coves; ask before heading into open water.
Barbuda - Codrington, Frigatebird Sanctuary & Pink Sand Beaches
Humidity increases but Barbuda remains breezy enough to avoid oppressive stillness; snorkeling off Hurricane Hole is best in the morning when waters are calm. The island’s flat profile means tidal changes are obvious, and small tidal pools appear along the flats - great for kids to explore. Expect fewer amenities open late at night compared with Antigua, and ferry schedules can change with local demand.
Marine & Sailing Conditions (Inter-island passages, reefs and hurricane season)
Spring brings consistently pleasant conditions for multi-day sails and day trips, with mornings glassy and afternoons holding steady winds for downwind runs. Boat traffic increases toward the end of the month, and anchoring space at English Harbour must be reserved early. Be aware that coral heads sit shallower than they look - charts and local guidance are essential.
