Antigua - St. John’s, English Harbour & Southwest Coast

Humidity is at its peak and late-afternoon thunderstorms become more common; expect interrupted beach plans on several days. The southwest’s sheltered bays still offer the calmest swimming on Antigua, but boat trips to Cades Reef can be postponed for squalls. If you’re sensitive to heat, plan activities for early morning or late afternoon and bring mosquito repellent for dusk.

Antigua - East Coast & North Shore (Half Moon Bay, Devil’s Bridge, Long Bay)

Stormy afternoons are more frequent and the shoreline is increasingly restless, so plan distant swimming and small-boat trips in the morning when seas are calmer. Wind-driven spray on cliff paths around Devil’s Bridge becomes common; bring a waterproof camera cover. This season is not the best time for fragile reef dives, but dramatic skies and rough surf create memorable photography.

Barbuda - Codrington, Frigatebird Sanctuary & Pink Sand Beaches

Afternoon thunderstorms are common and winds can shift suddenly; beach days are best scheduled for the early hours when the sea is glassy for snorkeling. Codrington’s small guesthouses are peaceful, but bring insect repellent for evenings as standing water after rains attracts mosquitoes. Boat transfers to secluded sandbars can be canceled short notice during storm periods.

Marine & Sailing Conditions (Inter-island passages, reefs and hurricane season)

Risk of tropical storms grows, and ocean swell and wind shifts can become unpredictable - experienced skippers stick to shorter hops and maintain close watch of advisories. Visibility underwater suffers after heavy rains, so plan dives and snorkeling for mornings and choose sites protected by reefs. Secure mooring lines and check your anchoring ground every time the wind direction changes markedly.
