Coastal Tell Atlas (Algiers, Oran, Béjaïa)

December turns damper and cooler, with regular rainy days and daytime temperatures back down to about 12-15°C; occasional gusty storms sweep the coast and the sea looks dark and wind-driven. Algiers’ cafés are warm refuges, and this is the least crowded time for coastal sightseeing - bring warm layers, a raincoat and expect some ferry services to be delayed in rough weather.

Kabylie & Eastern Tell (Tizi Ouzou, Béjaïa, Constantine)

December brings unmistakable winter to the higher country: frequent rain at lower levels and snow above 800-1,000 m, with nights regularly dipping below freezing on the ridges. Roads into remote villages may be affected; bring warm clothing, waterproofs and be prepared for shorter daylight when planning mountain excursions.
