Theth, Valbona, Shkodër
July is the high season for the Alps: warm daytime temperatures in the valleys, very lively huts and fully staffed guesthouses in Theth and Valbona. Thunderstorms can develop in the afternoons, giving dramatic skies and short, heavy rain that cools the air but can make river crossings trickier. Expect crowds on the most famous routes; arrive early on trails and carry rain gear and a warm overnight layer even in summer.
Durrës, Lezhë, Shengjin
July is peak summer: hot, largely dry conditions and crowded beaches along the Durrës strip and Lezhë lagoon; ferries and coastal ferries run at high frequency and beach bars are full. Mornings and evenings are the best times to explore old town centers; during the day, sun protection and hydration matter-shade is limited on many beaches. If you dislike crowds, look for quieter stretches of coastline or take early-morning walks on the shore.
Tirana, Krujë, Elbasan
July is high summer and hot spells are common on the plain-Tirana sees warm nights and full terraces as locals head outdoors in the evenings. Midday can be stifling in the city, so many locals and visitors plan sightseeing for early morning or late afternoon; Dajti provides refreshing mountain escapes nearby. Thunderstorms sometimes develop inland in the afternoon, which can briefly upend plans and make rural roads muddy.
Vlorë, Himarë, Sarandë, Ksamil
July is peak Riviera season: hot, dry days, crowded beaches and lively nightlife in Sarandë and Ksamil; boats to nearby islands and snorkeling trips run frequently. Early mornings and late afternoons are best for sightseeing and walking the Llogara Pass where higher elevations provide cooler air. Pack high-SPF sunscreen, a hat, and expect higher prices and full restaurants-book ferries and popular boat tours ahead of time.
Korçë, Pogradec, Prespa
July brings warm, sunny weather with hot days inland but less humidity than the lowland coast-ideal for outdoor festivals and enjoying Korçë’s cafés. Lake Ohrid’s waters are at their warmest for swimming, and evening breezes off the lake make nights pleasant. Keep water and sun protection handy for daytime activities and plan strenuous hikes for mornings when temperatures are cooler.
