How to Get to Aberdeen Falls

From Colombo or Kandy, drive toward Nuwara Eliya/Ginigathena via the A5 and local roads; the falls lie near Ginigathena and are signposted from the main road. There is a small car park and a short but steep path/flight of steps leading down to the viewing platforms.

Tips for Visiting Aberdeen Falls

  • Arrive before 9:30am to see the falls with the morning light and before tour buses and crowds turn up.
  • Combine the visit with a stop at a nearby tea stall - local vendors often sell fresh king coconut and short eats near the car park.
  • For photography, walk the lower path for a misty close-up of the cascade; the upper viewpoint gives the falls' full drop against the forest.
