Zagreb Cathedral is the Roman Catholic cathedral located on Kaptol in central Zagreb, Croatia, and serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Zagreb. Its twin spires and Gothic-revival appearance make it the city’s most prominent church building.

The cathedral is visited for its exterior twin towers, late-Gothic and neo-Gothic architecture, and interior altarpieces and chapels. The towers are among the tallest structures in Zagreb and the building is a focal point for civic and religious events in the city.

The site dates to the medieval period but was substantially rebuilt and given its current neo-Gothic appearance after a major earthquake in 1880, with extensive works led by architect Hermann Bollé in the late 19th century. The cathedral has been altered and restored several times across its long history.

It stands in Zagreb’s historical centre on the Kaptol hill, within walking distance of other central landmarks and squares in the city.

• Spire height: The cathedral’s twin spires rise to about 108 metres and dominate Zagreb’s skyline, making it a common navigation point in the city centre.

Zagreb Cathedral is in the city’s historic center (Kaptol), a short walk from Ban Jelačić Square. From Zagreb Glavni kolodvor (the main railway station) it’s about a 15-20 minute walk to the cathedral; many local trams also stop at or near the central square if you prefer a short tram ride followed by a 5-10 minute walk.

• Visit early in the morning or late afternoon on a weekday to avoid school groups and tour buses that concentrate around mid-day.
• Use the cathedral's main entrance on Kaptol Square to appreciate the façade and then step inside promptly - note that services can restrict access, so check the mass schedule to avoid closures.
• Don't just photograph the exterior: take time to examine the side chapels and the cathedral's treasury/collections area (open at different hours than the nave), which many visitors miss.
