Karlovac City
City in Croatia with historic fortifications
Karlovac sits at four rivers’ junction, a 16th-century star fort turned park. Visitors come for riverside swimming, cycling routes, whitewater sections for paddling, and a local brewery culture that keeps cafés full after long days outdoors.
Why Visit Karlovac?#
Visitors come to Karlovac for its rare star-shaped Renaissance fortifications and the convergence of four rivers - Kupa, Korana, Mrežnica and Dobra - which create scenic riverfront promenades and paddling opportunities. Historic Dubovac Castle and the Aquatika freshwater aquarium offer contrasting draws for history buffs and families. Local taverns serve hearty Central-Croatian fare alongside a Karlovačko pilsner, and nearby forests and waterfalls make the city a low-key base for outdoor exploration.
