Tihama (Red Sea coastal plain: Al Hudaydah, Mocha, coastal strip)

Early winter continues to be dry and pleasantly warm here in February, the kind of weather that makes the Red Sea look irresistibly clear from Mocha’s shoreline. Humidity is noticeable by midday but evenings drop enough for a thin sweater; you won’t see much rain, and the low tourist numbers mean simple hotel and transport options. If you plan beach exploration, expect strong sun - bring sunblock and light cottons, and check local advice before taking boats offshore.

Aden & Southern Coast (Aden, Zinjibar, Al Mukalla shoreline)

February continues the mild pattern and is one of the best months to explore Aden’s historic district and coastal road comfortably on foot; temperatures rise into the high 20s°C by midday. Sea conditions are favourable for small excursions along the coast toward Rafah or beyond, and fishing communities are active; expect fewer tourists and basic visitor facilities. Light clothing with a thin sweater for nighttime is sensible packing.

Highlands (Sana’a, Ibb, Taiz, Dhamar, Jabal An-Nabi Shu’ayb)

February continues the cool and dry pattern with bright sunny days and cold nights; villages in Ibb and Dhamar are lively as farmers prepare terraces for the coming rains. Vehicle travel across the plateau is convenient in this window, with the advantage of cooler nights for sleeping under the stars if camping.

Socotra Archipelago

February retains gentle trade winds and mild temperatures, ideal for exploring inland plateaus and coastal coves around Qalansiyah and Detwah Lagoon. Transport and small-boat trips between Socotra’s anchorages are typically dependable now, letting you reach remote beaches and snorkeling spots.
