Wieliczka City
Famous for its historic salt mine
Just outside Kraków, Wieliczka's working salt mine lures visitors underground to chapels carved in salt, chandeliers and miners' sculptures. Guided tours, a subterranean chapel and a saline sanatorium explain why people still queue for the shafts.
Why Visit Wieliczka?#
The subterranean world of the Wieliczka Salt Mine is the town’s primary draw, with carved chapels, chandeliers made from salt and the famous St. Kinga Chapel creating an unforgettable underground landscape. Guided tours and salt-therapy rooms add a health-and-history twist to the experience. Proximity to Kraków makes Wieliczka an easy cultural day trip for travelers wanting something unlike a traditional museum, and surface-level salt sculptures and local craft shops extend the visit.
