Vydubychi Monastery

Vydubychi Monastery is a historic Orthodox monastic complex in Kyiv with origins in the Kievan Rus period and surviving architectural layers from later centuries. The site is noted for its Baroque churches, bell tower, and monastic buildings clustered on the right bank of the Dnipro.

Visitors encounter a compact ensemble of churches, cloisters, and monuments including Baroque-period façades and interior decorative work, plus a monastery cemetery with tombs of notable cultural and religious figures. The complex remains an active religious site and a place for quiet study of Kyiv’s ecclesiastical architecture.

The monastery was founded in the 11th century and experienced reconstruction and enlargement in the 17th and 18th centuries when many of the standing Baroque structures were built. It has survived periods of secularisation and restoration across modern Ukrainian history and continues to function as a religious community.

Vydubychi Monastery sits on the right (western) bank of the Dnipro River in the Vydubychi area of Kyiv, near major road and rail links that connect it to central Kyiv.
