Tsiv-Gombori Range Mountains

The Tsiv‑Gombori (Gombori) range is crossed by the Gombori Pass, the main road link between Kakheti (Telavi) and central Georgia. To reach the range, drive from Telavi toward the Gombori Pass on the principal Kakheti-Gori route (the highway that links the Kakheti valley with Shida Kartli); Telavi is the nearest sizable town and is reached by road from Tbilisi. Once on the pass road you can stop at laybys or small villages and walk onto trails into the ridges (walking distances depend on the chosen trailhead).

• Drive or traverse the S6 (Gombori Pass) to cross the range and plan for morning or late‑afternoon light-the pass road offers the clearest long-distance views of the Kakheti valley on calmer mornings and softer light in the evening.
• Use roadside viewpoints and small villages on the Kakheti side as staging points-many visitors only drive the pass and miss short detours into vineyards and hilltop lookouts that give panoramic perspectives of the Alazani valley.
• Avoid peak holiday periods on the pass (weekends in summer and harvest time) if you want quieter stops; early weekday mornings typically have far fewer tour buses and car convoys.
