How to Get to Tõrva
Tõrva is best reached by road from Tartu or Tallinn - Estonia's bus network provides direct services, and trains are only useful as far as Tartu. Renting a car is convenient for exploring Valga County and surrounding countryside.
Tartu Airport (TAY): Tartu is the nearest airport for Tõrva with limited scheduled services; most international travellers use Tallinn. From Tartu you can rent a car or take regional bus connections (drive ~60-75 minutes).
Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport (TLL): Tallinn is the main international airport. From TLL take a bus or train to Tartu (train ~2-2.5 hours, fare ~€5-€12) and then a regional bus to Tõrva (about 1-1.5 hours). Overall travel from Tallinn to Tõrva is around 3-4 hours depending on connections.
Train: Estonia’s rail network is limited for regional routes to southern towns - there is no direct passenger rail to Tõrva. Trains to Tartu are common from Tallinn; from Tartu you continue by bus.
Bus: Buses are the main public transport to Tõrva. Direct buses run from Tartu and Tallinn with journey times roughly 1-1.5 hours from Tartu and 3-4 hours from Tallinn; fares are generally in the €3-€15 range depending on distance and operator.
