Togo in February: Weather, Crowds & What to Expect

Southern Coast & Lomé

February is one of the sunniest months on the coast; Lomé and Aného see low rainfall, bright skies and daytime highs in the high twenties. The humidity begins to creep up toward the end of the month, so day trips to the lagoon or Kpémé are enjoyable but bring water and a hat. This is a good time for city sightseeing and shorter beach stays before the long rains start to affect road conditions.

Southern Highlands & Mount Agou (Kpalimé / Atakpamé)

February remains dry and warm during the day with bright skies and cooler nights; Kpalimé and Atakpamé are among the most comfortable inland spots, often 2-5°C cooler than Lomé. This is prime trekking season - waterfalls such as the Kpime cascade are quieter and accessible. Bring sturdy walking shoes, sun protection for exposed ridges, and a light jacket for hilltop breezes.

Central Plain & Sokodé

February continues cool at night but increasingly hot by day as the dry season persists; Sokodé sees little rain and daytime highs often touch the low thirties. This is a good month for visiting cultural markets and towns without weather disruptions, though dust can coat photographic gear. Pack breathable clothing and be ready for very warm midday heat on open savannah drives.

Kara & Northern Highlands

February remains dry with clear skies and stronger daytime warmth across the highlands; Kara sees low humidity and pleasant visibility for panoramic views. Local cultural events often take advantage of the dry ground, and trekking routes toward Togo’s interior are easier. Pack sun protection and a sweater for cool nights, and expect little rainfall to disrupt travel plans.

Savanes & Dapaong (Far North)

February stays dry and warm with clearer skies and even lower humidity; daytime heat is intense but pleasant for early-morning excursions to local markets. This is peak overland travel season for northern Togo - roads are firm and travel agencies run bush treks and cultural visits. Pack breathable long sleeves for sun protection, and a light jacket for unexpectedly cool nights.
