How to Get to Chachoengsao
Chachoengsao is easily reached from Bangkok by car, train or minivan; travel times are short enough for day trips. For speed and door-to-door convenience, taxis from Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang work well; for budget travellers, regional trains and minivans are efficient.
Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK): Suvarnabhumi is Bangkok’s main international airport and the closest major airport to Chachoengsao. From BKK you can take a taxi directly (about 45-70 minutes depending on traffic; taxi fares typically range roughly 400-700 THB including tolls) or use a combination of Airport Rail Link + taxi/bus.
Don Mueang Airport (DMK): Don Mueang handles many low-cost carriers; from DMK a taxi to Chachoengsao takes about 1-1.5 hours depending on traffic. You can also take a bus or transfer into the city and connect to eastern bus services.
Train: Trains depart Bangkok’s main terminals (Krung Thep Aphiwat / Bang Sue, Hua Lamphong historically) to Chachoengsao (Chachoengsao Junction / Paet Riu station). Regional trains are inexpensive and take roughly 1-2 hours from central Bangkok depending on service.
Bus / Minivan: Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekkamai) and other Bangkok bus stations run minivans and buses to Chachoengsao; travel time is about 1-1.5 hours and fares are typically modest (hundreds of THB). Private vans and tourist minivans are frequent from Bangkok suburbs and Eastern Seaboard routes.
