Terjit is an oasis and small settlement in the Adrar region of Mauritania, notable for its palm grove and natural spring-fed pools. It is a traditional stopping point on local routes across the Adrar plateau and is visited for its shade and water in an otherwise arid landscape.
The site has long served as a caravan and local waystation, providing fresh water and shelter to travellers and nomadic communities. The oasis comprises a narrow, palm-lined wadi with pools fed by a spring.
Terjit lies within the Adrar region of central-western Mauritania, on the upland Adrar plateau; it is commonly reached from regional towns such as Atar and from desert tracks that serve the nearby ancient towns and ksars.
