How to Get to Tequila, Jalisco

Tequila is most easily reached from Guadalajara by road - regular buses, private shuttles and booked tours run between the city and the town. The tourist 'Tequila Express' train operates seasonally, but buses are the dependable year-round option.

By Air

Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport (GDL), Guadalajara: The primary airport for visitors to Tequila. From Guadalajara airport or city centre the drive to Tequila takes about 1.5-2 hours by road; shuttles, private transfers and taxis are common options.

Regional / charter flights: There are no closer major commercial airports than Guadalajara for Tequila; some tour operators include transport as part of tequila-distillery day trips.

By Train & Bus

Train: There is no regular passenger rail service between Guadalajara and Tequila. The iconic ‘Tequila Express’ and other tourist trains have operated seasonally (check current schedules) but are not a guaranteed year-round service.

Bus: Regular intercity buses run from Guadalajara’s bus terminals (Central Nueva and Central Vieja) to Tequila.
