Northern Sughd (Khujand, Isfara, Iskanderkul)

June turns the lowland valley noticeably hot by afternoon, though the higher scrub and lakes remain comfortable for exploration. Expect daytime highs in the high 20s-low 30s °C in Khujand while evenings stay mild, and mosquitoes start to appear around Iskanderkul and low-lying streams. If you’re planning long treks into the Fann Mountains, start early to avoid heat and afternoon thunderstorms that can sweep down from higher slopes.

Khatlon & Vakhsh Valley (Bokhtar/Qurghonteppa, Kulob, Vakhsh)

June often marks the beginning of true summer heat in the Vakhsh valley, with daytime highs reaching into the low-to-mid 30s °C in the shade. Small rivers and irrigation canals become popular local cooling spots and informal river beaches fill with families at weekends. Travelers should expect hot, sometimes sticky air and prefer accommodation with airflow or fans; long rural drives mid-afternoon can be fatiguing.

Dushanbe & Hissar / Fann foothills (capital region, Varzob, Hisor Fortress)
