How to Get to Supetar#
Supetar is the main ferry port on Brač island and is reached via Split (SPU). Fly into Split, then take the short transfer to the ferry terminal and the regular ferries or fast catamarans to Supetar.
Split Airport (SPU): For Supetar (on the island of Brač) the nearest major airport is Split. From Split Airport take the local airport shuttle or taxi to Split ferry port (Stobrec / Split harbour) - transfer time to the port is about 30-40 minutes and airport shuttle buses cost roughly 30-40 HRK (€4-€6). From Split harbour take a Jadrolinija car ferry or passenger catamaran to Supetar: car ferries take about 50 minutes and passenger catamarans are about 35-45 minutes, with one-way fares typically 20-50 HRK (€3-€7) for foot passengers (car fares are higher).
Zagreb (ZAG) / Dubrovnik (DBV): Zagreb and Dubrovnik are alternative gateways but are much farther by road and sea. From Zagreb you would travel by road or rail to Split and then ferry; travel times and costs are significantly higher than using Split (SPU).
Train: There is no direct rail link to Supetar because it is on Brač island. The nearest mainland rail hub is Split (Split Glavni Kolodvor). From Split station take local transport or a short taxi/transfer to the ferry port - allow 20-40 minutes for the transfer depending on traffic.
Bus / Ferry: Intercity buses arrive at Split bus station; from there it is a short transfer to the ferry port. Ferries (Jadrolinija and other operators) run regularly to Supetar - car ferries (for vehicles) take about 50 minutes, and fast passenger catamarans are quicker. Combined bus+ferry travel time from Split is typically 1-1.5 hours including transfer times.
How to Get Around Supetar#
Use Split (SPU) + ferry to reach Supetar; ferries are frequent and straightforward. On the island, walking and local buses work well, while a rental car gives maximum freedom.
- Ferry (Jadrolinija / local services) (20-50 HRK) - Ferries link Split and Supetar frequently; car ferries (~50 minutes) and passenger catamarans (~35-45 minutes) operate seasonally and year-round. Book tickets at the port or online; ferries are the principal connection to the island.
- Airport shuttle / bus (Split) (30-40 HRK) - Split Airport is connected to the city and ferry port by scheduled shuttle buses and local buses. The shuttle is affordable and timed to many flights; a taxi is faster if you have tight connections or lots of luggage.
- Taxi / private transfer (~HRK 150-250) - Taxis from Split Airport or station to the ferry port are quick and handy, especially with luggage or on tight schedules. Expect fares higher than the shuttle but reasonable for short trips into town.
- Car rental (€30-€70/day) - You can rent a car on the mainland and take it on the car ferry to Brač. This is convenient for exploring the island but check ferry car reservations in high season. Driving gives access to beaches and interior villages that public transport may miss.
- Walking - Supetar’s town centre and waterfront are compact and very walkable; once you arrive on the island most amenities are easy to reach on foot.
