How to Get to Postira#
Postira is a village on the island of Brač; the usual route is Split Airport → Split ferry port → ferry or catamaran to Supetar → Supetar bus to Postira. Connections are frequent in summer and reduced in low season.
Split Airport (SPU): Split is the main airport serving Brač visitors (via ferry). From Split, travel to the ferry port (Split-Riva/Trajektna luka) then take Jadrolinija ferries or fast catamarans to Supetar on Brač; combined airport-to-Supetar door-to-door time is commonly about 1.5-2 hours depending on connections.
Zagreb / Dubrovnik: Zagreb or Dubrovnik are alternatives but involve significantly longer overland/ferry transfers.
Train: There is no direct rail service to Brač.
Bus & Ferry: From Split city centre walk or bus to the ferry port and take the car ferry (Split↔Supetar, approx. 50 minutes) or a fast passenger catamaran (shorter). From Supetar catch a local bus to Postira (about 20-30 minutes). Ferry passenger fares are modest (a few euros) and the Supetar→Postira bus is short and inexpensive.
How to Get Around Postira#
Split-Supetar ferry plus a short island bus or taxi is the standard approach to Postira. Ferries and buses are frequent in summer; outside peak season plan transfers carefully as services are reduced.
- Ferry (Split-Supetar) (€5-12) - Jadrolinija car ferries run between Split and Supetar (about 50 minutes). There are also fast passenger catamarans in high season. Ferries are reliable but can be busy in summer; timetables vary by season.
- Local bus (Supetar-Postira) (€1-4) - Local Brač buses connect Supetar with Postira; the journey is short (around 20-30 minutes). Buses are inexpensive and timed to meet many ferries, but check the island timetable for off-season hours.
- Taxi / Transfer (€15-35) - Taxis and private transfers are convenient if arriving with luggage or outside ferry/bus schedules. They are quick but cost noticeably more than buses.
- Car + ferry (€40-70/day (rental)) - Bringing or renting a car gives flexibility on Brač; ferries carry vehicles but expect queues in summer. Roads on Brač are generally good but parking in seaside villages can be tight in peak season.
- Walking - Postira is compact; walking is the best way to enjoy the waterfront, beaches and local restaurants. Short walking routes to nearby coves are pleasant and often recommended.
