St. Herman’s Blue Hole National Park is a protected area in Belize’s Cayo District that conserves a limestone cave system, a freshwater sinkhole known as the Blue Hole, and surrounding forest. The site is a compact natural attraction focused on karst features and short walking routes.

Marked trails and short guided or self-guided visits focus on the cave passages, the Blue Hole cenote and nearby forest, offering chances to see cave formations and local wildlife. The Blue Hole itself is a steep-sided freshwater sinkhole distinct from Belize’s offshore Great Blue Hole.

The park protects karst landscape typical of inland Belize and provides interpretive signs and basic visitor facilities at the trailhead. It is managed to allow recreational caving and nature walks while conserving the cave and its immediate catchment.

The park lies in western Belize’s Cayo District among low limestone hills and forested terrain, accessible from nearby roads serving the central interior of the country.

  • Trails and access: Trails through secondary rainforest lead between the cave entrance, the Blue Hole sinkhole and picnic areas, making the site suitable for short hikes.
