Diving & Snorkeling in South Asia

The warm waters of the Indian Ocean give South Asia some outstanding scuba diving, headlined by the coral atolls of the Maldives, one of the planet’s premier dive destinations. Reef sharks, manta rays, turtles and dense schools of tropical fish populate reefs that range from gentle house-reef snorkels to exhilarating drift dives through channels.

Beyond the Maldives, India’s remote Andaman Islands offer pristine, lightly dived reefs, while Sri Lanka combines coral and a scattering of historic wrecks. Water is warm year-round, but the monsoon dictates the best seasons at each destination. Certification courses are widely available and affordable, making the region a fine place to learn.
