Somalia in April: Weather, Crowds & What to Expect

Southern coast & riverine lowlands (Mogadishu, Kismayo, Juba & Shabelle valleys)

April marks the start of the Gu (long rains) for much of the south - showers and heavy downpours become frequent in the Juba and Shabelle basins. Rivers begin to swell and low-lying farmland floods; this is beautiful country for seeing swollen waterways and working irrigation but travel on dirt tracks becomes slow or impossible. Central plains & Galmudug (Galkayo, Hobyo, Dhusamareb)
