How to Get to Shabla
Shabla (Dobrich Province) on Bulgaria's northeast coast is most easily reached via Varna Airport with onward bus connections to Dobrich and Shabla. Regional buses are the main public transport option for the final leg.
Varna Airport (VAR): The nearest major airport to Shabla, around 70-90 km away on the Black Sea coast. From Varna take a bus toward Dobrich and change for local buses to Shabla; total travel time is typically 1.5-2.5 hours depending on connections.
Burgas Airport (BOJ): Further south and less convenient for Shabla; Varna is the preferred gateway for northeastern Black Sea destinations.
Train: Bulgaria’s rail network is centered on Sofia and Varna; for Shabla the practical route is to travel to Varna or Dobrich by train (to Varna) and then use bus services-direct rail to Dobrich is limited.
Bus: Intercity buses from Varna to Dobrich and onward minibuses or regional buses serve Shabla. Buses are the main public option for reaching the coastal village and are inexpensive; schedules vary seasonally.
How to Get Around Shabla #
Shabla is compact and easy to walk, especially around the centre and beach areas. In summer there are more local buses and seasonal services linking the resort and surrounding villages.
