How to Get to Same, Tanzania

Same is best reached overland after flying into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). From JRO transfer to Moshi, then continue by regional bus or dala-dala to Same; road travel from Moshi to Same takes a few hours.

By Air

Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO): The usual international gateway for Kilimanjaro Region. From JRO you typically travel by road to Same via Moshi (JRO→Moshi ≈ 1 hour; Moshi→Same ≈ 2-3 hours); airport taxis or shuttle to Moshi cost roughly TZS 20,000-40,000, then onward bus or dala-dala to Same.

Abeid Amani Karume / Dar es Salaam (DAR): Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International (DAR) is another national gateway but it’s much further from Same (many hours by road) and typically only used if routing through Dar for domestic connections.

By Train & Bus
