How to Get to Korogwe
Korogwe sits on the road and rail corridor between Tanga and inland Tanzania. Tanga Airport (TGT) is the nearest airport; Korogwe also has a functioning regional railway station with limited passenger services.
Tanga Airport (TGT): Tanga is the closest airport to Korogwe; from Tanga the road journey to Korogwe takes about 1-1.5 hours by car. Taxis or private transfers are the normal onward options - expect to pay more than public buses but gain speed and convenience.
Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) / Dar es Salaam (DAR): Korogwe is also accessible by road from Kilimanjaro (near Arusha/Moshi) or Dar es Salaam; those drives take several hours and are commonly done by bus or private hire depending on itinerary.
Train: Korogwe has a railway station on Tanzania’s Tanga-Moschi/Arusha regional line and is served by some regional passenger trains. Trains can be slow and services may be infrequent, but the station provides a useful option for certain connections.
Bus / Daladala / Coach: Regular buses and dala-dala minibuses connect Korogwe with Tanga, Moshi and Dar es Salaam. Travel time to Tanga is about 1-1.5 hours; to Dar es Salaam is much longer. Coaches are more comfortable for long distances, dala-dalas for local hops.
