How to Get to Sambava
Sambava on Madagascar's northeast coast is most practically reached via a domestic flight to Sambava / Antsirabato Airport (SVB) from Antananarivo. Overland routes exist but are lengthy and dependent on road quality; local travel relies on minibuses, taxis and boats.
Sambava / Antsirabato Airport (SVB): Sambava has a small regional airport (SVB) with domestic flights, primarily to and from Antananarivo. From the airport the town and beaches are a short drive.
Antananarivo Ivato Airport (TNR): The main international gateway is Antananarivo; most international visitors fly into TNR then take a domestic flight to Sambava (SVB) or travel overland, though overland journeys are long.
Train: Madagascar has very limited passenger rail service and none that serves Sambava reliably; overland travel is by road.
