How to Get to Razlog#
Razlog is a mountain town best reached by road from Sofia, Blagoevgrad or Bansko; buses and private transfers are the usual public transport links. Sofia and Thessaloniki are the main international airports people use to reach the Pirin area.
Sofia Airport (SOF): Sofia is usually the best international arrival point for Razlog and the Pirin/Blagoevgrad area. From SOF you can travel by coach or rental car to Razlog; road journeys take roughly 2-2.5 hours depending on traffic (taxis or shuttles vary widely in price, shared coaches are cheaper).
Thessaloniki Airport (SKG): Thessaloniki in Greece is an alternative for southern access to the Pirin region. Road transfers from SKG to Razlog are longer (approximately 3-4 hours) but sometimes preferred for cross-border itineraries.
Train: Razlog does not sit on Bulgaria’s main rail corridors; the closest major rail hub is Blagoevgrad or Dobrinishte (for mountain connections). Trains to Blagoevgrad are run by BDZ; from there you transfer by bus or taxi to Razlog.
Bus: Buses are the primary public transport option for Razlog, with frequent services from Blagoevgrad, Bansko and Sofia. Bus journeys from Blagoevgrad or Bansko take under an hour; Sofia-Razlog by coach can take around 2-3 hours. Fares are typically BGN 5-25 depending on distance.
