Qillīn is a Delta town in Egypt’s Nile Delta plain within Kafr El Sheikh Governorate, a major agricultural area. It is known locally for fishing heritage, rural markets selling fresh catch and produce, and as a low-key base for nature watching in the surrounding wetlands and rice paddies.
Many of the main draws around Qillīn are archaeological sites from the Nile Delta’s long history. Sais is an ancient Egyptian city and archaeological site, while Naucratis is an ancient Greek trading emporium in the Nile Delta. Buto adds another set of ancient Egyptian city ruins, and Behbeit El Hagar is known for ancient Egyptian temple ruins at Sebennytos, with granite remains. For a change of pace on the water, Rahmaniyah Island is a Nile island in Beheira Governorate, Egypt.
