Naucratis Archaeological Site

Naucratis was an ancient Greek trading emporion established in the Nile Delta during the Archaic period and served as a principal Greek commercial settlement in Egypt. It is notable as a long-standing point of contact between Greek city-states and Pharaonic Egypt.

Archaeological evidence and ancient sources indicate the site was active from the 7th century BCE onward as a center for Greek merchants and sanctuaries dedicated to Greek deities. Finds from the site include pottery, votive objects, and architectural remains that document Greek presence and trade networks in the Delta.
