About Prasat Bei

Prasat Bei is a small Angkorian temple complex located in Siem Reap province near the Angkor area. The structure is traditionally arranged as a group of three towers on a raised platform, a common layout for minor religious sites from the Angkor period.

The monument dates to the Angkorian era and reflects the regional temple-building style of that period. It sits within the broader landscape of archaeological sites in the Siem Reap plain and is visited as part of local temple circuits.

History & Culture of Prasat Bei

Prasat Bei is a small, rarely visited group of brick towers just north-west of Baksei Chamkrong, built by the Angkor founder Yasovarman I in the 10th century. The towers themselves are modest, but the quiet grounds, set beside the moat that surrounds Angkor Thom, offer a welcome respite from the heat and the crowds. A trail leads north through the woods from Baksei Chamkrong to a 5-to-10-minute stroll along the moat’s grassy banks, where a lone sandstone door-frame survives from a now-missing tower, its linga still standing intact.
