How to Get to Pogradec
Pogradec on Lake Ohrid is best reached by road from Tirana or by crossing over from Ohrid (North Macedonia). There are no practical train links; regular buses and shared minibuses provide the most reliable connections.
Tirana-Mother Teresa Airport (TIA): Tirana is the main international gateway for Pogradec. From Tirana take an intercity bus toward Korçë or Pogradec - the trip is around 3.5-4.5 hours and fares generally fall in the €8-15 range.
Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport (OHD): Ohrid (North Macedonia) is geographically close to Pogradec across the lake; seasonal or limited flights arrive in Ohrid, and a short cross-border road transfer (taxi or bus) to Pogradec takes around 45-90 minutes depending on border crossing and routing, with fares around €10-20.
Train: Albania’s current passenger rail network does not provide convenient train access to Pogradec - overland travel is dominated by buses.
Bus: Pogradec has a local bus station with regular services to Tirana, Korçë and cross-border connections to Ohrid. Bus trips to Tirana are about 3.5-4.5 hours (fares ~€8-15); local routes around the lake and to nearby towns are inexpensive (a few euros).
