Philotheou Monastery is an Eastern Orthodox monastery on the Mount Athos peninsula and is one of the twenty ruling monasteries of the Athonite community. The monastery is inhabited and functions as an active monastic house within the self-governing monastic state.
Like all establishments on Mount Athos, it is subject to the community’s entry rules - only men are permitted to visit and entry requires a diamonitirion permit issued by the Mount Athos authorities. Philotheou is sited on the eastern side of the peninsula near the port of Dafni and comprises the typical monastic buildings clustered around its katholikon.
